Painting and Drawing have been a part of my life since
I was very young. With 5 precious grandchildren, keeping
the joy of childhood is close at hand!
I am originally from Oregon-USA, where my Canadian husband
Mike and I met along the West Coast. We have three grown
children, and have been living in British Columbia, Canada
for over 36 years.
Vancouver Island is an idyllic place to find inspiration!
Separated from the Mainland and the 'big city' of Vancouver
by a 1½ hour ferry ride, we are very thankful for
the lush vegetation, and magnificent beauty surrounding
us. Big-sky, ever changing. Waters and the Coastal Mountain
Range are part of our everyday view. (And for those who
ski, a top notch training resort (Mt. Washington) is within
an hours' drive.) Visiting the mountain affords the most
spectacular view, with a 180° Vista north to south
of the Georgia Straight!
I grew up in a very creative family, blessed with parents
who saw personal creativity as a way to bless others.
Our mother and father taught us gratitude for nature and
its intricacies, and we were raised to 'look and see'
what God has created for us to enjoy! We learned to develop
our individual creativity based on our personal interests,
with encouragement and praise close at hand. My three
siblings and I demonstrate our love of Art in a variety
of mediums: wood carving and watercolors; clay sculpture
and pottery; impressionistic multi-media works; portraiture,
and decorative art.
"As a young teenager, my first love outside of Art
was Horses, and so I concentrated all of my energies learning
about them. As a result, I collected and sketched, and
eventually painted -Horses.
In High-school I was fortunate to devote most of my 'extra'
-time to Art; sometimes 6 classes a week. Our school had
a beautiful Art Dept, and we were taught Fine Art skills-
in many forms, creating a variety of styles, using diverse
subject matter. It was the talented Instructors in this
specialized facility, whose skill in teaching and encouragement
motivated me to give my very best to the field of Fine
Art.
Now-a-days, depending on the thoughts that precede "the
vision," my painting style and its techniques can
change like the weather in the Pacific Northwest!!
Come and see for yourself what The Good Lord has been
doing in my life!
Sincerely, and with Painterly Affection,
Jill
